Research Consulations
Projects coming up? Feeling frustrated? The Hatfield Library reference librarians are here to help.
Set up an individual research consultation for in-depth assistance in any area of study. Or, if you prefer, come to the library to talk with the subject librarian for your topic.
Research consultations enable librarians to think more thoroughly about the resources most relevant to your research, and allow you and the librarian to work together without interruptions. It's a great way to overcome research-induced frustration!

Digital Imaging WorkStation
The library has added a "Digital Imaging WorkStation" in the microfilm area. Microfilm reader #2 now has a PC connected to it so patrons can scan from microfilm or microfiche directly to Adobe Acrobat, creating PDF files or TIFF images.
When users log onto the computer, it will map their H: drive, and they can either save the files or print them off to the network public printer.
Ask at the Circulation Desk if you have any questions about this new digital option.

New Printers
The first floor library printers were upgraded this week with two new HP LaserJet 4250dtn printers. The new printers offer the ability to handle large print jobs at a faster rate than the older ones, printing up to 45 pages per minute.
Most importantly the new printers offer the ability to print double-sided. In fact, the printers will default to double-sided, helping the library cut down on wasted paper.

Meet Our New Archivist
On Friday March 10 from 9:30 - 11:00 the "coffee will be on" in the reference area of the Hatfield Library. Please join us for a cup and meet and welcome Mary McKay, our new Archivist.
Mary has recently been with the Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies at the University of Georgia. At Willamette, she will organize and manage the University’s archives as well as the rich collection of political papers given to us by Senator Mark Hatfield.
Web Powertools
The Hatfield Library has created a page for various powertools to aid online research. These can be easily and safely loaded onto your computer to make searching the library's website (or any other) quicker, no matter where your research takes you. Check it out!
