Comprised of scholarly and general interest titles, as well as government documents and reports, GreenFILE offers a unique perspective on the positive and negative ways humans affect the ecology. Drawing on the connection between the environment and disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology, GreenFILE will serve as an informative resource for anyone concerned about the issues facing our planet.

Crystal Williams teaches at Reed, and has published two collections of poetry, Kin and Lunatic, both from Michigan State University Press. Her poems have been published most recently in The American Poetry Review, CPR, Luna, Spoon River Review, and 5AM.

Her work draws equally on African-American blues and oratorical traditions, confessional lyricism, and slam/hip-hop poetics.

The reading is free and open to the public.

Two awards of $500 each will be awarded to the winners. The deadline for application is May 7, 2008.

Murder in Oregon: An evening with two Oregon mystery writers

The event will feature ASHNA GRAVES (aka Wendy Madar) and RON LOVELL, whose mysteries are set in Oregon, in conversation with Salem author and professor emeritus Virginia Furtwangler (aka Ann Copeland). Special desserts and a no-host bar by Bon Appetit. Seating is limited to 65 persons.

This event takes place on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge, 3rd floor of Putnam University Center, Willamette University.

In addition to delivering the full text for hundreds of academic journals in the field of education, going back as far as 1983, Education Full Text offers a richer search experience from its predecessor, Education Index, because of the addition of abstracts that are now searchable.

Education Full Text is the ideal database to turn to for research topics on any aspect of education, ranging from nursery schools to colleges.

Not only is a new relevance ranking used for keyword searching, but now individual records will often contain book cover images provided by Amazon and links out to Amazon and Google Books.

These services offer additional information such as descriptions, reviews, pricing, and some or all of the book's content. Information varies by publication and service.

The project archivist reports to the University archivist. Duties include the formulation and implementation of procedures, goals, and schedules; sorting, arranging, appraising, and describing the collection according to current archival procedures; conducting a preservation assessment and making storage decisions; preparing finding aids and other descriptive tools including EAD and MARC cataloging records, and providing reference assistance to researchers.

The University Archives and Special Collections is a department within the Mark O. Hatfield Library and contains the Pacific Northwest Artists Archives and a growing collection of political papers, including the congressional collections of Mark O. Hatfield, Michael Kopetski, and Dennis Smith.

Also contained within the Archives are publications, papers, and memorabilia related to the history of Willamette University. Related collections include the personal papers of Willamette alumni and a special collection of historical and modern books focusing on the Pacific Northwest.

This is a twelve month, temporary entry-level position. Salary is competitive.

Qualifications: Required: Graduate degree from an ALA accredited school with course work in archives administration; demonstrated experience arranging and describing archival collections; knowledge of archival principles and practices; evidence of project planning, management, and completion of projects; experience with automated library and archival systems and electronic formats in an archival setting; strong communication, writing, research and interpersonal skills; proven ability to work effectively with colleagues, faculty, and students in a collegial environment; ability to lift and carry large boxes and tolerate dust; and ability to reach shelves and utilize ladders.

Preferred: Knowledge of American history and American politics is desired.
