I'm Back, From Outer Space...

Hello, hello!

Gosh, I really don't know where to even begin... How about we start with today, shall we? ^__^ I have been repeatedly foiled in my attempts to finish my final essays early. Today was no exception. But it was a GOOD distraction! I woke up "early" today, planning to go for a run. While I was away from my phone, I received a text from a friend claiming that I won a free admission to the Aquarium and a free ice-cream after! I will always be won over with ice-cream, just for future references... ^__^ Anyway, I had to catch my first taxi by myself. So I run down to KP's to call the company. (The taxi company can be called for free using the phones provided by Gort na Coiribe, the place where I live. But my phone is broken due to a prank call from KP's wonderful flatmate, Brian.)

*Short detour about prank calls* We were getting ready to go out to the clubs when I get this call on my flat's phone. My music was up too loud, so when I answered, I couldn't really make out what the person was saying. I managed to catch "Security," so thinking it was important, I put the phone down on the counter. BUT because the stupid cord was NOT long enough to lie there without stretching, the phone shot back at me and missing me, crashed to the floor. I swear, by the way these apartments were set up, one would think that they were booby-trapped... Anyway, my phone broke open and the speaker disconnected from its wires. I CAN fix the problem, but I'd need a soldering iron and a heat sink, neither of which are available to me... So I went running downstairs to KP and Haven's room. I ask to use their phone and just before I call back the security office, Brian waltzes in and asks if I'm ready to leave yet. I tell him no, but I have to call security. He innocently asks why and I tell him my story. He cracks up and tells me that there's no security person waiting for me to call back. That little bugger! I really need to get him back for that! And my phone is still broken. I don't know if it'll ever be fixed...

So ANYWAY, I run down to call a cab from KP's room and I very gracefully made it to the aquarium. I look very nice, by the way! I have been meaning to laundry for a week, but naturally, other things come up. Tomorrow, I swear, it has to be done!!! So I look very eclectic. I can deal. I meet up with my "friend" and he shows me around the fish. (He's been volunteering/working there for three years.) I get to meet all the fish personally and even get to touch them. Dogfish are adorable!!! They jump up to say hi to you! OH! Another very Elyse moment: I walk into the first room and we're chatting by this large tank. Suddenly I hear this loud CRASH behind me and I yelp and jump. I lose my balance in my "stylish, yet affordable boots" and have to be caught by my friend. >__< Oh well, I gave him a good laugh. It turns out that they have a timed waterfall to put oxygen in the tanks. Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if we stopped there because he wanted to see if I would be startled. Ooh, sneaky little so and so...

I had fun being carted around the aquarium! He was really knowledgeable too! It's neat to see people get excited about sharing stuff. ^__^ So afterward we head over to the gift shop where this really nice looking old man with bright blue eyes is behind the counter. We order our ice-cream and we gives me a smile. He knows my friend and I think he's happy that a girl is with him. Anyway, as we try to pay, he just shakes his head and smiles. I don't think he even said a single word. So we thank him and head out and enjoy our soft dessert. It was a LOVELY day. I'm driven back to my flat and we part ways. But it was definitely a wonderful day!

So I decide that I'm actually going to get work done tonight. I guess that is really just updating stuff I should have done WEEKS ago. My pictures are up on Facebook, if you'd like to look at them. And now I'm updating my blog! Go me!!! I will do my best to get another in here soon. But we've all heard that before, huh?

Signing off!
~Elyse
