Es Mejor...

hola!

so today we started our new classes. our intensive period is over and now normal classes begin.
this semester, i am taking spanish anthropology, great spanish literature, current events of spain, flamenco, and advanced composition. exciting...
this weekend i am going to Cordoba. its a city near Sevilla. people say its beautiful so pretty psyched for that
dont have classes on fridays anymore... whoo! so need to fill up my extra time around here...

so not much else is new. haven´t had time to put up new pictures... but i do have them! on facebook i mean.
sevilla continues to amaze me with its beauty. but it is also a city. a new city for me and so here are some things i have learned about the city and spain:

- taxis that are "libre" do not mean they are free of charge
- they looooooove olive oil
- siestas are crucial if you don´t want to die in the heat
- there is dog poop everywhere because there is no law that says you need to clean up after your dog
- pedestrians must be careful... cars have the right of way
- ice here is as big as my head, and not good for chewing =(
- you can spot an american because they are the only ones sweating. spaniards dont sweat
- unless you are old... then you also dont believe in deodarant
- bugs will bite your face

ok well, thats all for now. i will learn more later probably. ha.
must go home sooon...

paz,

Me encanta helado

Buenas Dias!

So I am not sure how long it has been since I have written but its been quite awhile... lo siento
lately i have been just going to school and eating ice cream. i eat a lot of ice cream. all my money goes to ice cream... its getting pretty bad. lol
anyway, um... last weekend my roommate and i just walked around el centro de sevilla. we went to a couple of stores and shopped a little, (ate more ice cream) and visited La Catedral and Giralda. La Catedral is incredible! Huge, made of stone, with so much detail in its design... bellisimo. Giralda is the giant bell tower connected to the cathedral. we climbed and climbed. i was sweating like crazy and got a cramp in my thigh, but... it was worth it. it is the highest vantage point in sevilla. very beautiful city

i went to a bull fight on sunday. it was... bloody... interesting... and yet beautiful as well. i knew the bulls were going to die a bloody death before i went, but my stomach didn´t and so was naucious the whole time, haha.

y... this weekend may be going to another beach. we love the beach around here. the water is warm and blue and the sun is hot. and i am going to turn black but thats ok.

i need to figure out how to pictures on here. i will try soon.
love you all!

vale vale vale!

hola mis amigos y familia!!!!!

gosh i miss you all so much! i am always talking about you all to my new friends here =(
pero, estoy feliz aqui. its really beautiful! i am living in Sevilla in the bario Triana. its across the river from my school. a short (hot sweaty) 15 minute walk. i start classes monday. we took a placement test on friday afternoon. so i may be sent home, told to learn more, and try again... jk. but perhaps they should...
my spanish is pretty good. i am not going to lie, being brown helps here, lol. the other kids here who look more "american" are always spoken to in broken english by the locals. they dont even try with them. but with me, i can try to fake it until my limited vocabulary runs out. then... "soy americana" haha

i have been to madrid and toledo also. madrid is huge and amazing. toledo is small and beautiful. lots of cobblestones and ancient moorish buildings, palaces of kings. wow....
they have so much more history than us. its overwhelming at times
i look up at these AMAZING stone buildings and catherdrals and palaces and stand in awe that people actually built them. WOW!

anyway... i dont know what else to say... i miss you all. you are all beautiful. i miss all your beautiful faces
but so far so good. =)

i have a cell phone here, but i dont know if it works =(

anyway, its free for me if you call me... so buy phone cards and call me up sometime!!! please??
my number is 011-34 669 25 4349. so many numbers....

i love you all! hope you are all well

hasta luego,

liz
