Vlad and Sascha's Thursday shift

Today Vlad and I supervised the Spanish dubbing project. One group actually finished, and Vlad rendered and burned the disk for them. It is on the top of the blank disks in the cabinet shelf. One group is working in the MMWR and they are doing good too. ANother group is working in the corner and they also are doing good. BUT One group hasn't started dubbing yet... but they've been practicing alot.

Marta is here now and Sydney is wokring on something for BIO class. One student is on facebook in the corner and Eri is working.

Andy's 6-8

Russian movie/potluck in WLT21, and a spanish movie in B18.
There were a few people in and out, and Carolina is now tutoring here.
Checked and corrected a few grammatical errors in the WWN.

Olga's 4-6

Talked with Natalia about the Spanish dubbing project and the issues with using iMocie on macs. The version of iMovie that we have on the macs in LLC turned out to be a different program, not the one installed on the other computers. So, the software called iMovie on our macs is a different software, and I couldn't figure out how to work with it. What people will need if they want to work on a mac is calles "iMovie HD", and this is the software used by one of the groups for dubbing for the Spanish class.
Natalia showed me this tutorial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV-JXgN8UOM
and it works well for iMovie HD. So if people have any issues, just give them the link.

LLC is full of people. Pablo and Alejandra are here, Pascal is tutoring, one person was using rosetta and several people are using PCs.

Hayley 11-2

Uploaded group 2's files from SPAN 365 on to the MMR computer and transferred the files into Imovie, put them on the LLC hard drive and uploaded them on to the LLC workstation computer as tv files. The video tutorial for Imovie that we posted on Googledocs is from an older version of Imovie that is no longer recognizable. I couldn't find another video on youtube, but under the HELP option on Imovie there is a link to video tutorials. http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#imovie ... My shift is over, but I will explore this more later.

Student came in from Ferrins spanish class to learn how to sign up for Spanish tutoring.

Andy's 10:10-11:30

Audrey came in asking for a PAL VCR cassette tape, but we could not find one labeled as such. (America is apparently the only country to require you to label PAL cassettes, and we have mostly foreign films, so we could not tell) They will try another method.

A few people in the lab using the computers, two skype conversations going on!

A lot of students came in for tutoring today.

I spent some time trying to find the LLC key, but it turns out Sascha had it.
I went through the Spanish links to fix and wrote notes/questions about them in the document on Google Docs. I started on the Chinese links, but haven't gone through them all yet.

Japanese tutoring was going on for a little while, and I checked with Eri to see if she needed any help with the blog.
Edited the WISE sign up for Spanish dubbing and made sure we would get notified if anyone signed up.

Sascha's Tuesday

Today I opened the lab. I washed all of the LLC table tops and work spaces. There was an intermediate Japanese class here working for the majority of the shift. I talked with Natalia and Prof. Delgado about podcast teaching resources and ideas. She is bringing exciting new things to the classroom!

The printer ink has been refilled too. Eri is here working. Andy is here now for his shift. Japanese students are diligently working as well. Marta was in and out.

Have a happy Tuesday!

Sascha's Monday 2:30-4pm shift

Today I assisted ERI with her wordchamp troubles. She could not get the entry to show up on the TIUA site, but after a while of fixing and such, we finally got it to show up. What we did was change the date of publishing to only a couple of minutes ago, which tricked the software into publishing the blog brand new again...Tricky??

Tutoring here with Pascal, Alejandra and Pablo. One student is working in the corner. Be borrowed headphones. I could not get any new developments on the AVI to Mac issue and when I went to ask the MMWR tech, he was not there...

Please update your blogs, and remember to submit your timesheets for approval!

Andy's 6:30-11

A Spanish dubbing group was here. Since no one else was here, they used the mounted microphone instead of the headsets. They knew what they were doing and didn't need any help.
I reloaded the printer paper, and the printer seems to be low on ink.

Today I helped a girl with her myspanishlab work. She was having trouble accessing her account, but we solved it by exiting the browser and trying again.
