Sascha's 12:30-2pm
Today Natalia graciously and generously brought in donuts for us today. There is still a couple left here if anybody wants to claim them (maybe Vlad and Olya). Beyza was here working. A student came in to use a computer. My friend Casey came in and he complemented us on our nice computers and lab set up. I checked out the new world news--congrats to our wonderful contributors and editors! Way cool...
Have a nice weekend! Stay dry...

Andy's 11:30-12:30
Helped with the tail end of the Spanish Dubbing. Found out that in moviemaker you can't use the headphones for input while using the speakers for output at the same time.
Also put up my schedule on the spanish wise site.
Unpublished a world news story that accidentally published.
Also discarded an old pudding package that was on the bookshelf.

Sascha's Thursday 9:30-11:30
Today Vlad and I worked with the Spanish Dubbing class. Maria Blanco was not here, but the students had a successful workday. The most productive group recorded one minute!
A boy student came in asking if we had found his black gloves. I checked the blog and seared for black gloves, but there was nothing. Told him that, and he said he'd check back later. Please keep a lookout for black gloves, and if you find them put them on the blog.
Andy is here now working on our WMM microphone issue. Vlad and I have made notes about what went well and what did not regarding the Spanish dubbing group. They are on google docs in the folder called "Spanish Dubbing."
Eri is here. Andy is here. Natalia is helping Amadou work with wordchamp. They are uploading a "beauty and the beast" story in French... pretty cool...One student is here working on his spanish lab hw.

Andy's Shift
Pretty quiet night, there was a study abroad meeting in B17. Someone apparently forgot something, but came back to retrieve it.
Posted by anave at 07:57 PM
Hayley 11-2
Watched same video. I especially like the idea of interviewing professors about new courses offered in Language department + interviewing students about their experiences studying abroad. Looked up how to change Spanish dictionary settings for Firefox email. A couple of students here working on stuff...
Half way through.

Andy's 10-11:20
Watched a Keynote presentation from another language lab, got some ideas for our own if we create one.
-Include excerpts from the Spanish dubbing project, and convince other language classes to do similar video projects so we can show them.
-Movie reviews and clips of foreign films that we have here and at the library.
-Interviews with international students and students who were abroad.
-Interviews with professors
-If there are any upcoming culture/language classes that are especially interesting, interview the professor about them.
-Videotape any cultural events that happen on campus, so that we have some stock to pull from.

Sascha's Tuesday 8-11:30
Today I opened the lab and straightened the chairs. Loftus came in after his class to ask about the projector. It was not working when I tried to help him with it. It made weird noises and was completely unresponsive... fire hazard... he called WITS and a guy from the tech shop came down to check it out. So now I am chatting with the tech guy (nice guy). He is going to fix it up or take it out or see what the problem is. Andy is on shift now and Marta has been teaching me funny russian phrases. Max was here using skype as well. Nobody else came in.

Monday 6:30 pm - 9pm
A quiet shift. With one exception. A theater student came in to record a monologue for her final presentation. She recorded an audio file, I helped her do it using Audacity, then to save it and export it in MP3 and then I sent it to her via my gmail. Overwhelming. :) In a good way.

NOTE: If Spanish dubbing groups come into the LLC, please be sure to ask what number they are... If they are numbers 2 or 4, then please let them work on the teaching station computer or the two computers to the teaching station computer's LEFT.
Ok. I'll see you all tomorrow. Marta will be coveriing from 6:30-9pm tonight for Olya and Vlad.

Friday shift 12.30-3pm
Today we received our new/fixed computers back from the WITS tech shop. I helped Audrey install them again. Beyza was in and out. Two students were in doing spanishlab assignments. One is still here. Audrey is working on fixing our windows movie maker codec problem. Pascal has been tutoring like crazy. I am going to lock the SVR, and the key willbe in the heart basket. The lab was closed today during the middle of the day because Vlad was not here (he was not on campus and we couldn't find a cover).
If students are coming in over the weekend to work on the spanish dubbing. Groups # 2 and 4 can work on the teaching station computer and the computer directly to the left of it. Those two for sure work with those two videos. Groups #1 and 3 should be able to work anywhere in the lab. They'll know what to do about saving (save it in their folder locally on the desktop, and then make a copy of that folder when they are done on the external hard drive in the wooden shelf behind our stations).
I hope that everyone has a happy Halloween! If you need to get ahold of me my cell # is (206) 436 9909.
