Kei's monday shift

One more day of undergraduate classes!

I added a video tutorial on rendering.

I put the plastic forks in the "ROOM"

Also an IMPORTANT NOTE! If a Classics student drops by and asks about a classics computer program, it's on computer A under the classics folder!

Also, does anyone know if Group 6 from McIvor's class picked up their DVD. One of their DVDs is gone and they didn't take the other DVD which actually has the project burned on it. It's still next to the printer.

Kelsey's Shift

3:30-5pm
There was a swarm of students working on their videos this afternoon. One group had trouble uploading their video to computer K. Covarrubias Group 1 was done, so I backed that group's file up on the external hardrive, if anyone needs it for some reason. Other than that, it was quiet. Groups A, 2 and 4 need rendering, I am fairly certain. Have a good night!

Kelsey's Shift (and Sasha)

12-2
Sasha updated the Classics page with Hebrew funness. We figured out what was wrong with the sound on computer A: the headphone director must have two cables plugged into the back... one goes to the computer, the other goes to the projector output box.
There were a couple of Covarrubias' students who had questions about Premier Elements. One had trouble with the hard drive being full, so that was fixed. Another had problems with adding images. We just closed the program and restarted it.
We talked a lot about the Classics Gala this evening. Please come for cookies and drinks.

Kelsey's Shift

12:30-5:00pm
Today was a long day. I picked up Michael's 12:30-3:30 shift and had my 3:30-5 shift. I got a lot done though:

I helped Goeury-Richardson upload her video files onto her computer (actually her external drive). The files took longer to transfer than my shift. So, the external drive is up in her office if anyone wants to go get it. That should probably be done early tomorrow.
Beyza and I did some scanning for Zhanna: I finished April 16, 20, 23, and 25th. The 27th and 30th still need to be scanned.
Spanish students came in and out. Most of the questions asked pertained to adding media or cutting clips. Be prepared to tackle these kinds of requests...also don't forget that this is why I made those captivate movies! They're on the Help Desk for your enjoyment.
I checked the computers, and as far as I can tell, everything is in order as far as synchronizing the info on the board to what is actually going on.
I also reviewed the Classics document. It seems fairly complete to me. I am unsure what should be added.
Hooking up the cords has been left to Kei and Alek this evening. Have fun!

I am now incredibly sleepy and am excited to be closing up in 13 minutes. Have a good night!
PS: Wash your cups when you use them!!

Michael, could you visit Goeury-Richardson at the beginning of your shift to sinchronize the LLC PC 1 hard drive (connected to computer A, FGR folder) with her compuetr and hard drive. The French club locked up the nice speakers for computer A in the Walton 21 cabinet at the front of the room. Please get those and hook them back up. Also spanish videos on computer B and G are rendering and should be done sometime tonight. I didnt get a chance to start backing up videos onto the external hard drive and that should be done. Tuesday

So the lovely and terrifying task of digitizing tapes has begun. Unfortunately someone has been on Computer D my whole shift, so I was not able to check and see if Group 3 was fully uploaded. If someone could do that and then somehow mark on the board that that has been accomplished, that would be lovely. Also, Groups A and C are also ready to be digitized and the battery is charged now, so that can be done also.

2) open premiere elements ONLY! (don't use other programs)
3) save everything to the group folder (make sure you browse for the folder!!!!)
4) go to capture and elements will automatically save the video clips to this folder!

Covered John's shift.
Fairly busy night.
Some confusion and misunderstanding
regarding the use of WALT 21 took place.
Prof Wogan came in to watch his movie
only to realize, to his dismay, that walt 21 was already
taken by another prof + his class.
befuddling was sorted: Wogan and his comrades migrated to smullin 117
and those in walt 21 continued to remain deathly quiet and overpowered.

no other chargins took place. a kid did come in to use audacity though.
i gave him a pair of headsets and he talked loudly on his mic.

Happy monday all

I updated the Brown Bag Lunch Series website pages. That was just about it.

Posted by jbourque at 03:30 PM

Important Message

Please READ!

Natalia and I were chatting about what we can do to help show the Spanish students how to use Elements since they will begin coming in to LLC soon to do their projects. Here's our solution. Sample videos from last year will be put up on their network share for their class (i think it's span232). Video tutorials will be put up soon on our llc website. LLC assistants will direct Spanish students to that page to learn how to use the basics of Elements. Students will be coming in on their own time so please be aware you will need to do this. If you know Elements fairly well and can teach them feel free to do so otherwise show them the video tutorials. They will probably start coming in starting next week.

Thanks for reading!

Next time, research using webcams to record teacher-student conversations.
