Lunes
What a great brunch Natalia!!! Thank you SO much and thanks to everyone that helped set up everything and cook. I had the time of my life!
Anyway, today it was a bit frustrating for me because computer L is super slow now, and captivate takes AGES to record and to play. Also I wanted to record a message on it for the ATAJO project and after a half an hour of figuring out I realized with Heiki's help that the audio actually doesn't work... after that, I wanted to work on the storyboard and I did but then I realized that the print doesn't work, I tried to fix it and didn't succeed, so eventually I started writing for my world news last blog...
Have a great last days of classes!

Monday shift
Today started out exciting because we couldn't find the keys. We didn't need them so it wasn't too bad. Kelsey came in with them and it solved the problem. There is a girl working on her French speaking project in the PIT... she will come by and ask for it to be locked up! Important! Chek on her anyway just to make sure that she hasn't left yet. I made copies of RUssian books for Prof. Yashchenko and also talked with Beyza, Natalia, Heiki, Jessa, Marta, and Jacob. Enjoy the beautiful weather!

I burned the voice thread files to DVD (each DVD has one file, labeled as such). They are now waiting to be picked up in the cabinent... Russian cookies :)

Like You, by Rogue Dalton (trans. Jack Hirschman)
Like you I
love love, life, the sweet smell
of things, the sky-blue
landscape of January days
And my blood boils up
and I laugh through eyes
that have known the buds of tears.
I believe that the world is beautiful
and that poetry, like bread, is for everyone.
And that my veins don't end in me
but in the unanimous blood
of those who struggle for life,
love,
little things,
landscape and bread,
the poetry of everyone.

Hung out way beyond my shift, had pastry and coffee with Kindra, Lucia and Jessa. Exported VoiceThread files to the computer for Yuka and run some music on the speakers. An old house track follows after the leap.

Residual good feelings from the party seeped into the LLC this morning. Lots of jolly people hanging out, listening to music and of course, doing very important demanding work.

Printing blues
I picked up a new printer cartridge from the WITS office, however upon its installation, the printer developed some sort of immunodeficiency and now would rather print out 14 pages of black paper than the one page word doc it was asked to attend to. If any one knows what is going on here, please help!
Also, I made some copies for Tatiana, which are sitting on the table waiting for her to pick them up later in the day.

recipe
This simple recipe is to die for. Please try it but don't use too much cinnamon because if you do it's like "ech".
1 medium onion
3 cloves of garlic
2 tsp. each of cumin, cinnamon, and allspice (or chili powder is good too - basically whatever you have)
28 oz broth, chicken or vegetable
3/4 cup lentils
3/4 cup rice
cut up onion and garlic and cook them in olive oil for a few minutes. add the spices, cook another min. or so and add the broth and the lentils. Bring it to the boil, reduce heat, cover, cook for about 10 minutes. add the rice, boil, reduce heat, cover, cook for another 20 minutes until the liquid is absorbed.
Last night's shift: Not much to report. In fact, nothing. The Japanese class did not meet this evening, and no one came in.
Today's shift: somewhat busier. People in and out - Marta, Jessa, Cheryl, Lucia, Natalia, the Hebrew professor.
If you go to the wiki and to LLC planning ideas, there should be a link to everyone's name - please fill in a short update on what you've been working on lately and any ideas you'd like carried over to next semester.
We also planned a bit for the party next Sunday - there's a list of invitees on the table. If we missed anyone that should be invited, please add it to the list - if you are coming, please circle your name; if not, please cross it out. But you WILL be coming, of course.
Also installed Roxio on computer O.

There was a girl on skype who talked very loudly. When she left I cornered her and asked her maybe not to say fuck so much at the top of her voice. She seemed amenable to this.

Happy Feast of Saint Isidore of Seville, proposed Patron Saint of the Internet and Internet Users!
Anya came in, Marta was here for a while. Marta told me it's the day of the patron saint of internet. Looking it up, I saw that it was not something endorsed by Vatican. Interesting nevertheless.
There is an intercessionary prayer after the leap.
A Prayer before Logging onto the Internet and the Catholic Online Forum
Almighty and eternal God,
who created us in Thy image and bade us to seek after all that is good,
true and beautiful,
especially in the divine person of Thy only-begotten Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ,
grant we beseech Thee that,
through the intercession of Saint Isidore,
bishop and doctor,
during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee
and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen
