Monday Shift

Spent the earlier part of my shift just working on the computer~
The latter part I assisted the Spanish group with burning a DVD copy of their project; I just "auto-play"ed the blank DVD and used "PowerBurn" or some program like that to burn the data disc~

Vladimir Tuesday shift from 7 to 9 pm +1.5 hour

Olga felt sick and asked me to cover her shift. At 8:30 came group 2 (Spanish class) they had problems with recording the movie to the DVD. The file was too big and it always wrote a mistake when you tried to record it even on hard-drive. They needed urgent help, because they have a presentation tomorrow. I used Windows Movie Maker to compress the file and record it on DVD and on hard=drive. I called the file "Movie-Group2". It is on the 2nd computer to the right. I took me a lot of time to figure out how to resolve this problem and then to get everything done. So I stayed here with this group until 10:30 pm.
But now everything works.

Tuesday 6-7

Disabled the comments for the World News Blog after it received over 70 junk comments in just one day. Still deciding what to do about the comments- suggestions welcome.

For the language blogs, I kind of like the way they're set up right now, but I see your point that they aren't very active as is. One option would be to still have the blogs be separate, but all in one place. For example, the World News Blog could be on the main page & there could be a list of all the other language blogs in a navigation bar. I think if the blogs were suddenly combined all into one big blog, it might be a little confusing even with tags.

to whoever put up the Christmas tree & decorations: awesome job!

Posted by msunada at 06:48 PM

Tuesday 2-4

Talked with Natalia about the language blogs, we discussed what would be most effective.
I think that having the language blogs might not involve very many people, so we talked about combining the blogs into one single "language blog" where we could just post whatever came to mind.
We could post both language-specific and non-specific items, and just tag accordingly.
I think that this would make it much more active and interesting, what does the rest of the LLC think?

Posted by jgfowler at 03:57 PM

Tuesday 11:30-12:30

The LLC is reserved tomorrow (Wednesday) from 4 to 7 for Amanda's (ageck@willamette.edu) group to record.

Prof. Loftus cam in b/c the projector wasn't responding to the on/off buttons and said the light needed to be replaced. he said he contacted wits, but he was concerned and wanted to see if we could do anything about it. that's kind of outside of our jurisdiction right???

Monday 4-5

Commenting is being re-enabled for this semester's entries in the World News Blog. It is currently only enabled for the newest entries. This will be a trial to see whether or not there will be a lot of junk comments. The comments might not show up right away because they will probably have to be approved.

Also, Natalia says that anyone with holiday spirit is welcome to set up and decorate our miniature Christmas tree on the black cabinet.
