The LLC bank tin is behind one of the Macs. It is currently empty, and until there is some cash in it, we will sadly remain tea-and-coffeeless. So, if you would like to have tea or coffee, please contribute some money to the LLC Bank and Natalia or I will go get it. Thanks!

Zan's Shift

-I tried to move the Gaviota files onto sslaughter's Wordchamp account. First, we needed a password from Maria Delgado (this is the class code or something), which I got. Then I tried to add Prof. Slaughter to the class, but it erased her teacher profile. I wrote to wordchamp with this information, hopefully they will change it back.
-Andy: Natalia wanted to know if you were still doing digital editing stuff on the computer?

Been with Luis, Zan, Jessa and Natalia discussing about the new topics for world news.

Posted by jbianchi at 02:55 PM

Andy's Shift

I checked rosetta stone on the computer closest the macs, and it works. Our new computers have two sound ports, so two people can use headphones on the same computer. I tested those as well, and it works fine. (The ports are on the speaker at the bottom of the screen, on either side.

The computer next to the pumpkin candle is being used for vhs-dvd transfer, please don't touch!

Posted by anave at 10:08 AM

Zan's Shift

A few things already...
-About rosetta stone, I may be wrong but I think Natalia was thinking the guys could use the headphone splitter so they could both watch on the same computer?
-I had some trouble opening the door this morning...then campus safety came and opened it, so it could've been just me.
-The lab was not alarmed this morning, please remember to do that!
-Also, the left Mac was set to Hiragana, please set it back to English after you're done.

Olga's Shift 7-9pm

The two guys who came yesterday came again. They said that Natalia told them that they both of them can use Rosetta Stone at the same time. Vlad was here, and we together couldn't find the option for 2 people to use it t the same time. Is there any?

They are interested in studying together, at the same time, so as we have only one Rosetta CD, maybe it could be possible to create a virtual disk on one of the computers so that they can tun the program simultaneously.

Other than that the guys were working ok. The girl was using Rosetta, and I proposed Tell Me More to the guy and it went fine.

Found broken headphones. Placed them under the conditioner.

Oh, and I found the key :) It was on its place by the door, was a nice joke to place it there.

Other than that, Irina came to work with her files. Some people were there in the beginning of the shift, but they all left by 7.15

Posted by oslabari at 08:33 PM

Victor's Shift

Fairly low-key. It'll probably be a slow week.

Helped a girl with using "Meebo" for video chat, but failed. The camera kept resetting. Never used it before, so it might just be the free web-based software's problem~

Vladimir's shift

Searched for on-line TV stations. Natalia wants to switch from satellite TV to on-line TV. Here are the links that I found:
http://www.live-online-tv.com/germany.html
http://www.multilingualbooks.com/online-tv.html
Majority of channels work good.

Elizabeth was still in here talking on Skype. :)

I was able to get Rosetta Stone working on the 5 computers along the wall. I haven't gotten to the others. If, however, you get a chance...please try logging in and using Rosetta Stone on one of the 5 comps. I would like verification that it works for multiple users. Thanks!!

Kelsey's Shift

It was a fairly quiet morning.

I worked on addressing the Rosetta Stone issue. I fixed it on the pc closest to the headsets. I will fix it on the other computers soon.

The files on the WISE audio course for Integrated Chinese need to be labeled. Natalia found the CDs and the track names. Jose is going to start organizing this.

January 20, 2009

Tuesday 7-9 pm PLEASE READ THIS

2 guys came to use Rosetta Stone, but it is not working. After inserting the CD it shows the first window, and after I press "run" it says that I should "log with administrative privileges and try later". The same message appeared when I tried to run Rosetta files on the computer (the one under the mirror). I heard from someone that there was a problem with Rosetta earlier, but couldn't find anything related in the blog.

If you know how to fix the problem, please, e-mail Travis Lee and Ming Hom . They would like to start with the Spanish study asap.

Found a Rosetta Latin CD in one of the computers, placed it where it's supposed to be.

First shift back...bright and early! :)

One student came in this morning around 8:30. I helped Professor Olaya get into WLT 27 (which has a combination lock that none of us knew the combo for). I also made coffee (it's yummy...you should try it if there's any left). I also updated the walton 21 schedule, language faculty schedules, and what I could of the assistants schedule. Hopefully that'll get settled soon. :)

And in other news....please respond to this message if you plan on drinking coffee...because I'm going to set up a coffee/milk purchasing schedule... :)

Break is winding up....:(

I just wanted everyone to try to remember that the logins on the macs are a bit finicky. When you log into the blog, make sure that if your username is not the one in the upper right corner of the page, you logout and log back in as you. This way, your entry will show up as yours instead of another staff member's. Thanks!
