The monitor cable for a PC doesn't seem to work, it's the one closest to the exit in front of the mirror.
Looked around on the WISE My Spanish page, trying to figure out what was wrong with the sign-up for tutoring. I couldn't find anything that seemed wrong.
Posted some Chinese events from the events blog onto the Chinese blog to keep a record of them.

Spanish class was here twice. So it was very noisy here. Posted some entries to the Events Blog. Natalia brought WWW blog cards. They are under the MAC.
Here is the description of the resolution of the problem with WISE that I promised to post long time ago:
Spanish professor had problems with gradings. Gradings for uncompleted assignments were calculating to the total grade. We just choose the option not to include them in the total grade. After the assignments were completed professor can include them again. So, it was not a big issue.

Victor's Wed 5-7pm Shift
Spent the first half of my shift creating a teacher's account on WordChamp and setting up a class. Not too difficult, really, but I was a little confused by the language associated with using a YouTube video for homework. You don't actually post the entire html code, just the part that follows the "=", something to be wary of. However, I think I did a good job of creating a mock HW assignment involving translation of some song lyrics. If only I had some students...

Kelsey's shift
Today was fairly eventful. Elizabeth was Skyping. A student named ___ Rising came in to use Rosetta Stone to make up for missing Spanish class. A few other students were doing homework in the lab.
Natalia and I started scheduling Eri (the LLC intern from TIUA) meetings with the staff for next week.
We tried to look at the Contact page on Dreamweaver, but it wasn't working on the Macs, and the PCs were all automatically updating again.
Please remember that there are explicit expectations in the manual and in the blog that explain cleaning schedules for the lab. Tasks are assigned based on the time of your shift each day. Everyone should review this. It is in the black binder under the air conditioner.

Victor's Tuesday 5-7pm shift
Talked with Natalia about writing insightful blog entries. It is with that thought in mind that I try a new style of entry~~
I took the time to think about how to go over the WWorld News process with Eri, our new TIUA intern. In my opinion, it is best to go over the information with her as follows:
Explain how it is a place for international students and Willamette students from America to discuss different customs and traditions around the world. Essentially, it is where people can discuss how the same event or holiday is viewed comparatively around the world. Also, it is an excellent place to post world events of particular importance to share that information with the Willamette community.
Then, after discussing the overall significance of the awesome phenomenon that is WWN, she can look at what it has become today. Show her the archives, starting with entries from Chinese and Japanese representatives, something she can relate to. Explain how the blog process works by logging in with your WU id (so easy, really) and walk her through it.
After talking to her about it, she should be encouraged to start doing her own posts. I'm sure she will have her own insights on any particular number of events happening in her home country or how things relate here at WU, and if she thinks it's cool enough we can get her to encourage a few more from the TIUA crowd to get in on this (the ultimate goal) and we can spread WWN's popularity even further!
~~
Also, in response to Kelsey's earlier post, I look to my department (Japanese, Chinese, Asian Studies) as well as TIUA and my club the JSSL for good material worth advertising in the Events blog.

Fairly quiet, sounded like people were watching a movie in the other room. Found some sites for ChineseTV, but can't find any sites with english that show chinese language news. The best option for professors is probably to find the program they would like students to watch on CCTV, then send them the direct link. Otherwise students will most likely have trouble navigating the site.
