Jen's shift

The teaching station computer has been acting really weird. It closed down MS word and had error messages up about le correcteur. then it froze on me. I'm not sure what's going on with it, but we might want to check to see that ghosting worked properly.

aside from that, the usual TV5 people are here watching recorded news tapes in the room.

Jen's shift

Ok...so my shift started out on a friendly note! Apparently, Matt and I promised Chris a picture of ourselves with each others' glasses on, but alas-we forgot! So...Matt, I told him we would take a picture and e-mail it to him!

Anyway...the usual, wait til the last minute TV5 crowd is here watching it in the viewing room and I am enjoying a peaceful latin lullaby i found on itunes.

Aside from that, not too much going on...although I am pleased to say that a student is in here doing something creative with photoshop and that a nice man inquired about what goes on in the llc!

Excellent shift already (and very relaxing too!)

Jen's shift

Hello!

There seems to be a little craziness with movabletype using the wrong name for entries!

Anyway...tonight was fairly pleasant. As usual, the French News people came in to watch and a guy needed help in the MMWR with iMovie. Earlier today, a guy was having trouble with Nakama on Blackboard. I did not really understand what the problem was, but he seemed to be confused about the labeling of the files. It sounds like taping has been working out well through the week!

I also helped a student who had a former llc blog delete it because it was the 2.661 Movabletype that was getting spammed regularly. Apparently someone did a google search in her name and it was connected to all sorts of bad spam from the comment section. In case anyone asks how to delete those blogs, the log in is different than it is now. Also, whoever created it spelled movabletype incorrectly so it is hard to find. I just remembered it because we used to use it before this version.

The week in review--Jen's shift

Tonight...A student needed assistance with Paralleles audio on blackboard. She was worried that it was coming up in itunes and didn't realize that itunes was the mp3 player.

As usual, many students came in to watch TV 5 in the room, and Perla etc came in to use skype and check e-mail.
___________________________________________________________________

1. Happy Belated Birthday to Alex, Zan, and Tee!
2. Our wiki has been deactivated. Generally, we keep important information on it such as how to access messages on our phone.
3. Kei reimaged and installed Roxio on the teaching station computer so now the DVD and CD-rom drives work! Hooray!
4. The printer toner has been replaced.
5. In response to the request for German audio tapes, Natalia definitely knows our tape collection and resources best. I'd also encourage everyone to have a look on blackboard, our German webpage (BBC german, etc) and in the booth on shifts to familiarize ourselves with what German audio we have. We occasionally make copies of textbook tapes for people unable to access the blackboard audio at home.
6. Caitlin mentioned that Rosetta Stone, software for learning Italian, is now installed on the third computer in from the plant in the lab.
7. Kindra and Amy helped Profesora Varas make copies of videos for her class.
8.Zan and Hristo found where the french news recording in the lab: C:\Documents and Settings\nshevche\My Documents\Captured Files\Videos
Alex said he couldn't locate any of the newly recorded videos there.
9.Alex also noticed audio tracking problems with the VCRs in the classroom, that have caused problems with the TV5.

Jen's shift--Week Recap

1. The printer is getting a bit streaky
2. Caitlyn and Zan intalled a new font "Gentium" onto the teaching station
3. People have watched many soccer games in the LLC
4. Matt has been working on world news
5. Kindra was working with Blanco-Arnejo
6. We are missing 2 grey chairs
7. Kei said that the projector computer's DVD and CDrom drives are corrupted and need to be fixed
8. Let's make sure to put the key and lock box in the heart shaped basket so that we all can find it and set the alarm.
9. Tee wrote that tv in the corner is not meant to be hooked up to a cable. It is just meant to be an extra tv to watch movies on if room 4 is occupied.
10. There was a little confusion with the French news and German news, but it looks like Hristo and Amy got it all it has all cleared up.
11. There seem to be a lot of people calling us asking for translators. You can either redirect them to Pam x4106 upstairs or Natalia.

Jen's shift

Not too much going on here right now. FYI--the telephone was outside the door and the alarm was off when I came to open up.

Other than that...I just wanted to highlight some things that people have mentioned in blog entries.

1. Hiroko Yokokura has reserved "the room" on 2/13 from 4-6pm
2. Alex has added a template in Dreamweaver under llc_new.dwg
3. Caitlyn has been updating links in French Culture on the website
4. Hristo and Matt have been uploading World News pages
5. Many thanks to Amy for the new table layout and tech fair help
6. Zan has been updating events on the website and fixing the classics page
7. Ana Montero has been in this week for assistance with VHS tapes and VCR problems
8. Tee said that there were some issues with German not working on the internet and in MS word, but rebooted the comp and it worked.
9. Thank you all for an amazing week of TV 5 recording! Sounds like it's been working out super well!

Jen's shift Thurs night

Stephan is in the other room watching Edukators. Students came in to watch TV5 recordings and one student came in just now (as I was getting ready to close) and asked to watch butterfly.

I let him take the movie and he assured me he would bring it back in the morning. His name is Brady McCarthy and his e-mail is bmccarth@willamette.edu

A girl named Jessica came in and I showed her how to use audacity to record for german class.

5. Matt, if you have time could you put up the new llc schedule assistant schedule on the website. It's the very last one I e-mailed to everyone.

6.Thanks Zan, Caitlyn, Alex, and Matt for all your help with putting together and printing the brochures for tomorrow!
