A new person (Jessica Parker) from Group 6 McIvor's class brought in a DVD to burn. I was trying to copy one of the ones already made, but I got an error twice, so if someone could take that on that would be awesome. She wants to pick it up sometime tomorrow.
Four study abroad students came in to set up blogs, but I was not sure how we are having them set up blogs. So I just had them set up a blog at http://blog.willamette.edu. Yeah, so more detailed info about that would have been helpful.

So the lovely and terrifying task of digitizing tapes has begun. Unfortunately someone has been on Computer D my whole shift, so I was not able to check and see if Group 3 was fully uploaded. If someone could do that and then somehow mark on the board that that has been accomplished, that would be lovely. Also, Groups A and C are also ready to be digitized and the battery is charged now, so that can be done also.

I started burning DVDs of the SPAN 232 class on Computer A. The 9am class didn't go so great, I watched the DVD and only groups 4 and 5 have in sync audio. Right now the 10am class is burning, so if the next person could watch it when it finishes and then e-mail Natalia about what to do if it's still not syncing, and what to do about the 9am class, that would be awesome. And Natalia also wanted just one DVD of the SPAN 365 projects for tomorrow. On a happy note, Rostitsa has kindly left a copy of Behind the Veil in the LLC, which I will leave in the cabinet should anyone want to watch it :)

I met with Natalia and designed a table tent and possible collegian ad for the willamette world news. Also finished namecards for the semester. Oh yeah! I added $3.00 in quarters to the coffee fund :)

made namecards for kelsey and juliana, they're on the llc server in 'namecards'. juliana & kelsey- take a look and check if they need changes. started the wwn images for this semester. A man came in and wanted to know what 'di rigori armato' means from italian. I think it means something like 'armed penalty shoot out', but if someone actually speaks italian, that would be better. Feel free to write a translation on the board, he comes in intermittently and checks it :)

Professor Knorr and his wife stopped by looking for a Vista textbook for second semester first year Spanish students. Since the bookstore is out of copies his wife, who is taking the class, would like to make copies until she can get a new one. I couldn't find one in the room and there's a class going on next door, so if you get a chance during your shift, please take a look next door and if you manage to procure a copy, put it in the black box and send him an e-mail that he can come by and make copies. his e-mail is: oknorr@willamette.edu

Not too much going on today, a few people were in to use the computers. One guy asked how to use PCTV and I showed a student the correct way to get to Waton 21, they should really have signs up or something. I examined the blog entries and discovered that Anna has not lost her ability to say cruel cruel things without evidence. ...oh the sorrow of being called a dirty canadian....

Finished digitizing spanish tapes, except for Group D, Chris says they're doing their own thing, so hopefully they won't come in tonight with a tape asking for it to be digitized, but if they do I wanted the night shift person to have a heads up :) The tapes are in the black box, but I'll be in tomorrow morning to help out should anything go wrong.

Monday quasi shift
To who has the night shift (Kindra?): I put a file called Cedillo.mpg on the LLC server, it needs to be burned to disc by 8am tomorrow, but the LLC burners are eating discs. Unfortunately, I have class right now until 10pm. So if you could find time to run up to the smullins main lab and burn it there, I have put two blank discs on the table. Thanks!

Friday afternoon
today I went on an exhaustive search for headphones and recovered four (4) pairs. We are still missing one, and there is a suspiciously similar looking pair in wits pro, but the student working there was not sure if it was ours' or theres'. After that I helped students with spanish dubbing, and digitized 3 tapes for a separate spanish class who will be in next wednesday I believe. I put the tapes in the booth. so far just groups 1,3, and 5.

I checked the teaching station and switched the computer back to computer one, does anyone know why it is sometimes set to computer 2 and thus produces a black screen? I also resized the willametter world news photos and placed them in the willamette world new work folder, they are called wwn resized. I then helped spanish students get into the pit and gave them headphones (3 sets) which we should endeavor to get back.

Also, I made Michael's namecard, I'm still waiting to take a photo of John and to get Dmitriy's programs. a statistics class is learning blackboard at the moment oh yeah! did anyone find a blue coffee portable cup during their shift? I've lost it somehow...sad face.

8-11am thurs
Natatlia taught me a new thing today: to make the projector in the classroom go blank, press the on button and the volume up at the same time, to make it return, push the on button and volume down. So hurray if anyone needs to do that! I also made a schedule for Smullins 117 for Natalia, and I am still waiting on pictures from new people, but will probably take them tonight at training.

pretty down here, i'm working on name cards for new people, so if you joined spring semester or this semester and have no name card, please e-mail me a list of programs you're comfortable helping people with (i.e. adobe creative suite, dreamweaver microsoft office, final cut, etc...) and if there's no picture of you on file, put one on the server, or arrange a time to meet with me, so we can take one :)
delgado's students are having troubles with websam and class codes, so they might be showing up today.

Multi-cert assigned projects and the Spanish class is still having trouble getting their project to load. Indigenous people's had a media work shop where we helped them learn how to use imovie and movie maker. A Spanish 331 student stopped by about a movie his class was supposed to have watched, but didn't. If that happens more, it is on the table with a yellow sticky note that says Spanish 331.

I ran out of time and left a file converting to dv in the multimedia lab at the large media conversion station in the back. I need the morning shift person to put it on the dvd that's in the drive with iDVD (should already be open) and sometime tomorrow Gloria Cedillo will stop by for it.
Other than that, some spanish teachers watched a movie and I uploaded most of Chinese integrated audio to blackboard.
oh yeah, Chris Gramlich left a starbucks mug in here and went home, so if someone could return it to him that would be nifty. I've put it on the top shelf of the black cabinet.

Today I imported some Chinese CD's into itunes and then put them on the LLC server for uploading to blackboard, but I think Kei has been commandeered for that. Multi-cert had their first meeting and I put text on all the namecards. If you can find time, I suggest you look at yours and notify me of anything you would like added/changed.

Tonight I showed Amy around the multimedia workroom and put all the pictures and info I had on namecards. You should be able to find your namecard on the LLC server, in the folder named, "namecards", if it's blank, it means I need you to e-mail me the programs you are proficient at so I can add them to your name card. btw hristo chose a lovely photo for his :)
