sun. night shift...wooo!
So, I wanted to put the staff pics on the website, but for some reason I couldn't.
A) I couldn't find the folder within the image pics files within dreamweaver, and when I tried to drag it there an "access denied" message came up. I tried to change the security settings on the folder, but that didn't work...neither did just dragging the ind. files, "cannot open file".... Can someone explain to me how to open these files and put them up on the site??
-a french student came in wanting to use Le Petit Robert....after looking in the cabinet for a CD-Rom, I found it from the Start Menu, and put info re how to find Le Petit Robert on the website under French/Writing & Grammar. So, if anyone asks, you can direct them to the site.
-now I'm going through the website and fixing little errors that I might find...

Okay so I tried to put the CSI dv file onto the DVD-R, and the short version is that the file is 10.4 GB, which is too big to fit on the DVD. So someone (I am out of time!) needs to convert it to a smaller format or something like that.
The french class was in the LLC during my shift, so I worked in the MMWR.

Not too much to report...I think there was some Multicert explanation going on in the LLC... I mainly worked more on getting Senegal stills, and put them on my H drive--will move the new pics onto the LLC server as soon as I can. Edit: got those few pictures moved. I would have more done but I spent some time figuring out how to save the clips as a source (I'm not very mac-friendly~)
Posted by afrackel at 11:15 AM | Comments (0)
September 22, 2005
Wow I am retarded
Okay so for some reason, when I was leaving the other room unlocked for the movie, I decided it would be a good idea to lock the keys in the LLC. Next time, should I just leave everything unlocked--is that safe?? I'm sorry especially to Kei, who couldn't get into the LLC for his shift! :( But yeah, this morning I got campus safety to let me in.
In other news, I asked Chris from WITS how to go from the Senegal movie clips to stills, and he said to use Windows MovieMaker, which isn't on the LLC PCs...but it is on the workstations in the MMWR, so when I'm working in there tomorrow morning I can get started on that. I also plan to make sure my events board is up to date... Also, some lady came in and wanted to know why the Japanese satellite TV station wasn't working. Is there any way we can fix this problem? She asked me to investigate whether this was a temporary or a permanent problem. I also added a new link to the Spanish Culture part of the website.
Also, I agree with Jen about people coming through the LLC to get to the other room--Is there any way we can enforce this ? Or do something about it?

-For french pictures, need to figure out how to get screen stills from a video ( senegal site), anyone who could help possibly, please contact me!
-Started trying to find links for the Spanish > Culture > South America part of the site, because there is only one, and it's sad..
-this german professor lady came in and asked me to show her how to use the projector in the adjacent room--I left that room unlocked so she could get in to show a movie at 6 pm. However, I locked the LLC normally.

shift
Well so far my shift has been pretty dead, no one has come in at all. I emailed anna about my french pictures, and found some french pictures possibly for the website online...
I found that the small changes I had made on the website didn't show up, so Matt helped me out and we finally got them to load properly (yay).

Project
I am working on a project that will be the left sidebar on the LLC website, a kind of bulletin/events board regarding language/culture-related events on campus and around Salem. So far I have looked through the school website and collected contact info for a variety of clubs that might put on such events. I also emailed the representatives for the language clubs about the project. Soon I will meet with Pam Smith about the project. We are trying to create a board with a similar format as the Willamette Webmail events board, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.
