Italy
Tom is still alive!
Hey! I'm still alive and feel like I should post something. I'll be brief, though, since I want to go explore Florence. I just got into Florence, coming from Venice and before that Veinna. Veinna was pretty much the coolest thing ever, and was far greater than my expectations. Venice, not as much. It was a little dissapointing. Partly because I got really lost all the time. It is the most confusing city ever. I'll try and explain it later, in person, since I don't want to type much now, but the city makes no sense. You walk down an ally and hit a giant cathedrial and square with nothing around it, then you walk down another small ally, get lost for 20 minutes, and find a main street...that goes 20 meters in either direction, and then stops. It was weird. Also, the city seemed a little ruined and run down, there was a lot of graffeti and a lot of places were closed. I think in the next few years they'll have a big push to clean up the city, repaint and restore lots of the buildings, and it'll be really beautiful. It felt like you could tell it was supposed to be nice, but it hadn't been maintained.
Now I'm in Florence, and my hostel is great. I have free breakfast, dinner and a walking tour to go on. Plus, free interent. Plus a computer in my room. I never want to leave!
Heading to Rome in a few days, then meeting up with Anna for Greece! I'm excited. It's nice being by myself, but traveling with someone else will be a good change. And I'm almost ready to head home. This sort of life is hard, and it'll be nice to get back and have some consistency.
