Sweden ‘world’s most democratic country’

Josefin-Sweden.jpg
I’m ending my participation here at World News with bragging a bit about Sweden. According to a new report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, Sweden is the most democratic country in the world and is called a near-perfect democracy. The U.S. is only on ranked on place 17 and maybe has to consider its statement as the best democracy in the world.

The report included 60 indicators ranked from 1 to 10 and Sweden achieved a score of 9.88. But even if Sweden is considered a near perfect democracy, there are also some problems. The biggest issue at the moment is the power of appointment and that the process is taking place without any visibility and the posts are not publicly advertised but appointed from inside. The article is also pointing out that Sweden and the U.S. are opposed in one important point. Sweden treasures equality as really important while liberty is everything for Americans. That is also the central issue between both countries.
