Hello from China!

Greetings folks!
It is my great pleasure to write for the Willamette World News and work with our outstanding editors. My name is Lyu Boyuan and I’m a freshman here at Willamette. I was born and raised in Beijing. College has been so busy as far as I can tell. I have many hobbies including, sports, photography, and cycling. So generally I’m enjoying Willamette and Salem. Hopefully everyone finds life amazing in his own way!
I was born and raised in Beijing, one of the largest cities in the world (one of the best too!).
My home is literally in the central area of the city so it’s quite a big change for me to live in a small town like Salem. I’m taking Spanish, Math and Colloquium this semester. College has been so busy as far as I can tell.
Beijing has a rich history and it has been the capital of many dynasties for thousands of years.
Along with the profound history, we have great food too. That includes both Beijing and exotic food.
And it’s more fun if you just take a table with street food.
It’s not healthy, but you will love eating by the street. Foreign people love to share their food with us because we appreciate all kinds of flavors that those foods bring us. Also if you enjoy hanging out at night, you will fall in love with Beijing. We have great bars, clubs, all kinds of concerts and they are all open all night long. A lot of people haven’t realized what a fantastic night life they can get in Beijng. But if you are resourceful like me, you will want to go out at night every day.
I love to talk about anything with people from different countries and I care about the environment of the world we call home. I also take animal rights very seriously so please don’t kill a spider in front of me. Therefore I have some serious problems with my own country as people have made almost zero effort being responsible to the future of the earth.
Besides I really can’t say no to the restaurants downtown since they are so good.
I’m into most kinds of sports and I’m in the cycling club right now. It is very refreshing to ride in another country with exotic views along the way. And that’s just what I love about. Also I love photography so if you share the same hobby I will love to know you and we will have a good time together!
So generally I’m enjoying Willamette and Salem. Hopefully everyone finds life amazing in his own way!
