Sex in Your Culture

Dear Bearcats,

We would like to welcome our new contributors Jason Wu from China and Haruka Takahashi from Japan!

To introduce the WWN’s sexiest topic yet: Sex in your culture. This topic is extremely important and is being talked about worldwide. In addition, sex is controversial and a taboo in several cultures.
Social constructs around sexual practices differ based on cultural perspective. In a globalized world ideas of sex and sexuality are rapidly changing and this can often create generational gaps in understanding or conflicts in general.
This issue was inspired by the Huffington Post article titled “Japan Population Decline: Third Of The Nation’s Youth Have No Interest In Sex” which made a big splash last year.  In this issue our wonderful international students have written about their opinions on how  teen pregnancy, sex education, homosexuality, and other aspects of sexuality are perceived in their respective countries.  We hope you find this topic as fascinating as we do!

Love your WWN editors,

Paul, Hailee, Giuliana, and Lyu
