this evening we’ll have our first “German Movie Night“. We’ll be watching the funny road trip movie “Im Juli (In July)” by director Fatih Akin. It’s going to be at Walton 235 starting at 7 pm. There will be some chips, juice and Gummibärchen. The movie will be in German with English subtitles.
Shy, lovelorn science teacher Daniel (Moritz Bleibtreu) meets dreadlocked, free-spirited street vendor Juli (Christiane Paul) in Hamburg when she sells him a sun-inscribed ring and tells him he’ll fall in love with a woman wearing a similar symbol. While Juli hopes she’ll be that woman, Daniel thinks nothing of it- until he spots her hitchhiking on the side of the road while he’s driving to Istanbul to meet with another woman.

Hello to everyone!
My name is Karoline and I’m happy to be the German language assistant for this academic year.
I’m almost done with my Master of Education in English and Excercise Science. I’m from Hanover, the capital of the federal state of Lower Saxony, which is located in the northern and middle part of Germany. Hanover is known for hosting annual trade fairs (e.g. Hanover Fair) and the “Schützenfest Hannover” which is the largest marksmen’s funfair in the world. There are about 20,000 students studying at my university and it is one of the oldest science and technology universities in Germany. In contrast to Willamette, the different institutes are spread out througout the whole town. In my free time I like to travel, do sports and meet new people.
Everyone has been very welcoming so far and I’m excited to meet you all.
