Hi everyone. I thought I’d post this video and news article (click the image to watch them sing!) as a welcome back to another year of wonderful Russian language and culture.
Keep in mind that Russian Club meetings are Wednesday nights from 8:00 to 9:00 in the World Languages Studio. Hope to see you there!

From Russia, with song? Army chorus covers Adele’s ‘Skyfall’
Aug. 27, 2013 at 8:42 AM ET
There’s no cold war when Adele is involved, apparently. And certainly not when the Russian Army Chorus decides to cover the British chanteuse’s title song from the most recent James Bond film, “Skyfall.”
Also known as the Alexandrov Ensemble Official Armed Forces Choir, the seven-man group showed up in full uniform on a Russian morning talk show last week to sing the song. And give them credit: They did it in English, with a little help from a clipboard (which presumably had the lyrics clipped to it).
And sure, while initially the combination of “Russian Army,” “James Bond” and “Adele” might not seem to go together well, it’s a beautiful, stirring performance. Just wait until the backup singers kick in!
According to The Daily Telegraph, the military choir was formed in 1928 and usually sings military tunes, but occasionally tackles popular music like Men at Work’s “Down Under”and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama.”
