This picture was taken from Kyoto Station in Kyoto, Japan. It’s a little hard to tell, but in the middle of the mass of urban buildings, there stands a single temple. The duality of Kyoto as illustrated by this photo made it such a wonderful place to visit, and it wasn’t until the moment I saw this from the top of Kyoto Station that I realized just how beautiful the fact that Kyoto has blended the old and new together so seamlessly is.
