An unforgettable “Dia de los Muertos” in Oaxaca

Mariana-Mexico.jpg
After five months of protest in the city of Oaxaca, the Federal Goverment decided to send the federal police to bring back order and peace to the city.

The protesters showed resistance and decided to face the police no matter what the consequences would had been.

The federal police started to remove the barricades in all downtown Oaxaca. However, the protesters were brought together inside the Oaxaca Autonomous University “Benito Juarez” and on Nov. 2 the police tried to enter the University in order to remove the barricade there. Unfortunately, it turned into a terrible pitched battle. Not only protesters but residents from different neighborhoods went to help the police attacks and the thrown tear gases.

There are so many points to analyze out of this problem, first of all because there is no previous event like this in the history of Oaxaca, then because the are many political issues involved in it. What I want to share with you is a summary of what happened in this clash. Feel free to write any comment, I would love to hear your point of view since you are completely removed from this situation. Thank you.
